Protein Modifications to LabDiet® Formulas
We can alter the protein concentration of any grain-based LabDiet® formula; diets with high and low protein concentrations are possible.
Low-protein grain-based diets are formulated by adjustments to several protein-containing ingredients and by restricting the primary sources of protein. High-protein diets are formulated by adding additional sources of protein, being careful not to "dilute" other nutrients. (See About Diet Formulas.) Potential sources of added protein include milk casein and soy.
For example, grain-based Guinea Pig LabDiet® 5025 can be made without soybean protein or without milk protein (TestDiet® #5711-3 [57TN]). For either modified product, the standard LabDiet® Diet 5025 may be used as the control diet, thereby eliminating the need to purchase and store a separate control diet.
