Mineral Modifications to LabDiet® Formulas

TestDiet® will modify the mineral composition of any of the standard LabDiet® products as desired. Modified products can be manufactured in three ways:

1.     by omitting the addition of the specific mineral;

2.   by reformulating the product to eliminate those ingredients which contribute to the mineral content of the diet; or,

3.     by adding additional amounts of the mineral as a "direct add" to the "off-the shelf" LabDiet® product. (See Modified LabDiet® Grain-Based Diets.)

One example of a mineral-modified diet is the Low-Calcium Poultry TestDiet® #5070-9, which is a modification of Laboratory Cage Layer LabDiet® 5070. By omitting the calcium-containing vitamins and minerals, the calcium content of the diet has been kept at less than 0.3%.

Similar modifications can be done with any mineral in any LabDiet® product. We can modify the mineral composition of a diet for any species of laboratory animal.
